TMLT earns Accreditation with Commendation from the ACCME

AUSTIN, TX – Texas Medical Liability Trust (TMLT) has earned Accreditation with Commendation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

Accreditation in the ACCME System seeks to assure the medical community and the public that TMLT delivers education that is relevant to clinicians’ needs, evidence-based, evaluated for its effectiveness, and independent of commercial influence.

According to the ACCME, Accreditation with Commendation, a six-year accreditation term, is their “mechanism for celebrating organizations that excel.”

A commendation designation “recognizes the achievements of organizations that advance interprofessional collaborative practice, address public health priorities, create behavioral change, show leadership, leverage educational technology, and demonstrate the impact of education on healthcare professionals and patients,” states the ACCME.

Lesley Viner, Assistant Vice President of Risk Management at TMLT said, “I am so proud of everyone at TMLT who contributed to this significant accomplishment. I would like to extend a special ‘thank you’ to TMLT’s in-house CME team for their hard work, diligence, and unwavering commitment to excellence throughout the review process.”

The ACCME employs a rigorous, multi-level process for evaluating an organization’s CME program. The ACCME’s standards are based on driving improvement in physician practices and optimizing the care, health, and wellness of patients.

The standards used by the ACCME to evaluate CME programs are based on those adopted by all seven organizations that sponsor the ACCME. These are: the American Board of Medical Specialties; the American Hospital Association; the American Medical Association; the Association for Hospital Medical Education; the Association of American Medical Colleges; the Council of Medical Specialty Societies; and the Federation of State Medical Boards of the U.S., Inc.
